The Bronx Speaks -- Our Home

In an intentionally timely manner, The Bronx Speaks: Our Home opens during New York Armory Arts Week 2016 as working class neighborhoods—located in the Bronx and beyond—are continually being “discovered” as inexpensive real estate opportunities for developers. What is overlooked, however, is the art and culture that has flourished within these areas for decades, and the potential for erasure and displacement.  The exhibit is curated by Sarah Corona

Curated in two spaces—BronxArtSpace in Mott Haven and Andrew Freedman Home on Grand Concourse—the exhibition is intended to function as a platform for artists to “speak,” amplifying multiple voices and perspectives. The concept of home is interpreted and elucidated through the artist’s eye, revealing the dynamism of the Bronx arts scene that’s happening right here, right now.
