Solo exhibit of Monoprints by Joan Busing
April 15 - July 26, 2014

Elisa Contemporary Art is thrilled to present together with 1st Dibs an exhibit of Monoprints by Joan Busing at the New York Design Center, 200 Lexington Avenue.

Monoprints are unique single prints made from an image painted on a plate and then transferred to paper by an etching press. Each print has between four and seven layers.

Joan Busing has been a painter and print maker since she graduated from Bard College and Columbia University and has been exhibiting her work (since the 1960's) in galleries and museums. She received the Edna St. Vincent Millay fellowship for independent study in the arts.

She has illustrated two limited edition books "A Woman's Love and Life" and Robert Shumann's song cycle and "The Translated Poems of Rumi.". The books have been exhibited at Columbia University Rare Book and Manuscript Library, the Metropolitan Museum of Art, and the Library of Congress, who have purchased them for their permanent collections.
